The industry press was thrown into confusion earlier this week after The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Hewlett-Packard would combine its HP Services Organization and Enterprise Systems Group into a new organization called the Technology Solutions Group (TSG) and that Ann Livermore, who currently heads HP's services organization, would run the TSG. The Journal also said enterprise head Peter Blackmore would run a new company wide sales organization. HP Chairman and CEO Carly Fiorina said later that morning at a New York Security Analyst Meeting that HP had, in fact, made no such announcement regarding Livermore and Blackmore, but that the services and enterprise groups had been in the process of being combined since June, a process that would not be complete until mid 2004. Then on Wednesday, Fiorina clarified and gave details about major organizational and executive changes separately to the press and to employees.
