A group of hackers called Flexilis showed up at the recent Defcon event with a Bluetooth-cracking gun they invented called the BlueSniper. The device can be aimed at a passerby carrying a Bluetooth phone up to a half-mile away, enabling the "shooter" to perform, in the words of the inventors, "any type of attack from a long-range distance," including stealing data and "taking down any and all devices" within range. If you see a geek (or John Ashcroft) coming toward you with one of these, destroy your phone and run. Here comes the video (in a downloadable zip file). (props to Engadget)
