In 1999, Google was known only by hardcore searching enthusiasts while the hoi polloi were still using Yahoo and random geeks were hooked on AltaVista. It's hard to believe, but this unattractive pile of servers was the complete Google search engine back then. Here are more pictures. (props to Engadget)
