The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) has awarded its gigantic "smart passport" project to Israel-based SuperCom, Ltd. The new passports will contain hard to forge embedded microchips containing biometric data from the holder. Some 50 million smart passports are likely to be issued over the next five years.
