

The "CyberCar" -- developed by 15 European research centers -- uses GPS and an onboard computer to drive you around. A laser beam sweeps in front of the car to prevent it from running over small children or furry animals. Town officials in Antibes, France, and Monaco may buy fleets of CyberCars to serve as taxis.

New Toyota Concept Gives You Two Robot Legs

Toyota reportedly plans to unveil at Japan's EXPO 2005 its new "i-foot" robot vehicle. Designed as a replacement for a wheelchair -- but, hey, who wouldn't want one of these -- the i-foot can walk up and down stairs. The driver controls it with a simple joystick.

Virginia Tech Plays Prank On Yale's Prank on Harvard
Copying a prank pulled off by CalTech in 1961, Yale goofsters got Harvard fans to flash "we suck" using paper cards in a stadium. To brag about the prank, Yale students posted a video on a web site called harvardsucks.org (WARNING: clicking on this link will open a page you can't get out of without Task Manager), which has been taken over and defaced by Virginia Tech hackers. Can't we all just get along?

Lonely Japanese seniors will soon be able to buy a robot that will talk to them and keep them company. The Ifbot is designed to hold actual conversations -- in Japanese. The robot went on sale yesterday for a whopping $5,600.
