Worst USB Peripheral Yet: Decapitated Barbie

This is just sick. Some guy modified a Barbie doll so that when you remove her head, a USB plug is exposed. Just stick her neck into a USB port, and you get an extra memory drive.

Laser Beams 'Taste' Fruit Without Touching

Michigan State University aggie propellerheads are working on a laser-based system that can "taste" fruit -- judge its sweetness, firmness and overall quality -- quickly and without touching the fruit.

Bank Robber Caught By GPS

Hooray! Google Launches Web Accelerator! (Now Here's How to Block It)

Google's new Web accelerator serves up pages faster. It also can serve up the wrong pages faster. (One user reported being logged onto a forum under someone else's username, for example.) Here's how to block it.

Networked Emoticons For Meatspace

E-mail and IM emoticons -- smiley, frownie, winkie faces, etc. -- have busted out of the electronic world and entered the real world. Mauricio Melo invented a device that you plug into a PC or cell phone anywhere you want your mood expressed. Click on any of the four buttons in software, and the face of your choosing lights up. The Mac people are showing off again! (props to tigersprout)

Found Photos: PSP Video Billboard Going Up In SoHo

A massive Sony PSP billboard is being built in New York's SoHo. It's gonna be pretty darned cool.

If you've got $10k and a good set of lungs, you can enjoy the SuperScreen Outdoor Theater System, a giant, inflatable, rugged home entertainment system for watching movies and TV ourside. (props to Engadget)

Washing Machine Fingerprint ID Forces Husbands to Do Laundry

Desperate housewives: A new washing machine called "Your Turn" forces your husband to help with the laundry so you don't have to. A Spanish designer built fingerprint ID into the device and won't let the same person do laundry twice in a row.

An MIT student is holding a time-travelers' convention May 7 and has invited attendees from all eras. The Web-based invitation even includes longitude and latitude coordinates that people can use to punch into their time machines. He's asked that lots and lots of people publish information about the convention online, so the information will persist for years into the future.
